parche has indicated that this thread is about Norway

Hi. I want to visit Norway this summer (August 11th to 20th). We would flight from Malaga (Spain) to Oslo airport. I have been taking a look to several websites to hire a motorhome for my family (2 adults and 2 children 8 and 10 years-old), but prices are very very expensive (over 2000 euros for 9 days). Do you know any site where to rent for a cheaper price? Do you know anybody who live in Oslo and who would be interested to rent his own motorhome? We are responsible persons (I am a doctor and my wife is engineer). Thank you.

I'm afraid renting motorhomes in Norway is kind of rare, so it's going to be expensive no matter who you use :( Actually, everything in Norway is expensive For a hotel room for one night for a family that size you'd spend at least 1500 nok a night (about 200 EUR) so people renting out motorhomes know this. On top of that, anything that drives attracts a massive amount of tax from the government so the cost of buying a motorhome is much more expensive than anywhere else in Europe (same goes for cars etc.).

Last time I looked into motorhomes for someone asking about it, I only found 2 or 3 sites that offered them. I can't remember them right now off the top of my head, but a search on Google would probably bring them up!

Thank you Sam for your replay and information. I made the google search and that's why I sent this thread in the forum. I don't surrender to go to Norway this summer, so I will continue seeking. Thnaks again.

Quoting parche

Thank you Sam for your replay and information. I made the google search and that's why I sent this thread in the forum. I don't surrender to go to Norway this summer, so I will continue seeking. Thnaks again.

Don't get me wrong; Norway is a FANTASTIC country to travel in, especially along the roads as it is incredibly beautiful. So even though it's expensive, it should be worth it ;) I did some sniffing around in Norwegian, since that sometimes helps give better deals in Norway than English searches. I found this site which quotes the following translated roughly (site only in Norwegian though :( ):

Example of price for motorhome 2 weeks in the low season:
Big car (2 adults and 4 children)
2 weeks - 4200 km
kr. 190.50 (24 EUR) per person per day

If you want to get a price quoted you have to fill out the form on this page . There's a price list but it's confusing to me, and I speak reasonable Norwegian. So I'd just use the form to get an official quote and take it from there. The rental company is near Oslo.

Hope that helps!

Thanks again Sam. I have sent an e-mail to this company asking for a quote. In fact I did a seeking in google.no to look for norwegian hire motorhome companies, but most of them haven't got english translation. If you find any other web with an interesting price I would apreciatte you to tell me.
