Travel Forums General Talk STRESSSSSSSSS!

I think I'm about to have a nuclear melt down. 4 weeks to go before I leave for a year, maybe more, of travels and adventure. I'm selling everything, my address will be officially "of no fixed abode". Its only just hitting me that I have 25 years of accumulated crap. Some of it is so easy to let go, some of it feels like I'll regret throwing it/selling it/giving it away, but I have no choice. i wont be returning to America and I have no idea where I'll settle. Somethings I'll store and have sent on to where ever it is I end up, but trusting people to do this sort of thing for you can often go array and so it worries me. It also worries me all the things I must take. Duplicate important numbers, passport, plane tickets for all the stops, bank account numbers, the millions of passwords and answers to reminder questions we seem to collect these days for all those all too important websites.

Of course I've made it even harder on myself by signing up for a race in NZ. So now Im shipping both my bikes and all my workout gear, all which I have to collect and organize within 2 weeks of arrival to be ready for the race.

Ahhh, Id say I need a drink, but I dont really drink and if I started now I dont think I could stop.

Ok freaked out rant over with.

I think im starting to get that way too!
I think I have most things sorted and then you find something else to sort or think about. This site is amazing with all the help etc that Ive been given and found through the forums but it also has me questioning everything ive done in regards to organising my trip!
maybe RTW tickets are better? money belts or no money belts? organise or go with the flow? all things ive changed my mind on at least a thousand times!
Im in the same situation, giving up everything! Although im heading off with a friend inevitably there will come a time when we go out seperate ways and that scares me a wee bit but im sure we will survive!
Half the fun is the adrenalin pumping through your body every time you think of it! Just think that what you're away to do is an awful lot of peoples dreams and there are only a brave few who take the risk to actually do it!
Im sure itll be ace!
Good luck with your travels and your race!

Thats good that yours is a friendship, Ive seen many a "relationship" come to an end on the road! Dont worry about going it alone, your never really alone, stop in at a hostel and theres always someone looking at going your way and wanting a travel companion.

Yup there's been a lot of jaw dropping when I told friends I was doing this, plus the fact that its all only come about in the last 2 months!

Thanks on the race, although I'm going to get my ass handed to me, its the NZ national championship race, so all the top tri guys will be there. But hey what a great location to have your ass handed to you!

I got rid of 7 wheelie bin sized bin bags over the past 2 weeks before my new life starts in Oz next week! Was a bit difficult but it was 13 years of accumulated student crap that I didnt need anymore and all my clothes I like but dont want to give to charity I have 'loaned' to a friend who a. fits into them b. will return the stuff if I ever get back to that shape again.

Most of the stuff left is piratical nonsense I am using up at my leaving do! Aaaarrrrrr!
