Agra has an airport where domestic flights from major cities land. Both government and private airways operate to Agra. The Delhi Agra flight is a short flight of 40 minutes. There are daily round trip flights from Delhi to Agra, Khajuraho and Varanasi, with a return to Delhi. Agra airport is located 7 Km from the center of the city.
Agra is conveniently connected to Delhi by railway lines. Many trains connect Delhi and Agra, including luxury trains such as the Palace on Wheels. Agra Station is known as Agra Cantonment Station.
Agra is near Delhi, it is 204 Km from the capital of India. There is an excellent national highway connecting Delhi and Agra. You can drive down from Delhi in luxury taxi's, coaches or buses and arrive in Agra in a about 4 hours. The main bus stands in Agra are Agra Fort and Idgah bus stand.
Agra is easily accessible by road from Delhi. The National Highway from Delhi is well maintained. The 204 km distance from Delhi to Agra is a smooth drive. Various government and private buses operate along this route, taxicabs are also easy to find. Agra's main bus terminuses are Idgah bus stand and Agra Fort bus stand.
Contact Government tourism at the Airport and make your arrangements.
How much would you expect to pay for a day trip to Agra from Delhi in a taxi?
Last time in Delhi I remember heaps of taxis offering to take you to the Taj Mahal but I need to know who hard to bargin.
Kerala backwaters is a good option for you to consider since it is near to Bangalore. Goa also is a good option. At both places the climate has started getting warmer. For information you can search websites with words like kerala backwater tours and travel in goa etc.....
Backwater zones exist throughout Kerala - Kumarakom and Aleppey in the southern part and Kasargod in the northern part. House boat trip alone will be an expensive affair... that is why if there was a group of people it would be cheaper...
In Goa it won't be difficult to find accomodation since it is off season now - you will have to search around or find from the websites, telephone and find out.
As far as travelling alone is concerned it would be much safer if you were in a group.. so pls exercise your discretion and decide....
how much do they charge ...... the question is how much do u wanna pay..... there are luxury taxis that would charge aroung 10K for this and the normal indica taxi would charge about 4K to 4.5K for a round trip to Agra. Or there are Agra tour busses available from all over delhi. These charge about Rs 500 only and you are safe because you are in a group. And they take you to place apart from Taj Mahal as well.
Also if you want to visit Kerla, you should keep aside atleast 10 days. There is sooo much to see and do in Kerla.

sorry i could not paste photos,
Thank you guys...
I might postpone Agra until next week. I found this place - Hampi that looks absolutely great!
There is also Coorg. I need to plan......
If you can still help me with ideas..
I am currently in New Delhi after spending two years in US. Your offer is tempting to visit Taj which i haven't for the last i0 years though i know the geography of Agra. I don't mind accompnying you to visit Taj.
If interested, pls write me at sureshinsearch at yahoo dot com.
Hampi is brilliant! You will have an excellent time. You can catch the overnight train to Hospet from Bangalore and then a tuk tuk to Hampi which isn't too far away. You can hire a motor bike and explore.
