hey, had a confirmation via email i'd been granted an electronic whv subclass 417. so, things are moving on. i know that in order to stay in oz you need proof that you have sufficient funds to support yourself, i was curious as to whom you had to show this too?? do you get asked about your stay when you arrive in australia??

i do have the funds, but i will have exchanged my cash for au travellers cheques, i presume that as long as i have the required amount that will do??

In theory the immigration officer at passport control at the airport will ask you for it. In reality, no one in the three years I've been here at travellerspoint has ever reported being asked to show any proof of funds. As majito used to say, backpackers are "low risk", so they basically just wave you through. (Of course, this isn't something anyone should ever rely on, as there's always the chance of someone having a bad day and deciding to make an example, but still, effectively it's an empty requirement - more there for your own benefit (because you really will need at least that much money) than for them.)
And yeah, it wouldn't really matter in what form your funds are in order to prove that you can support yourself.
