Just thought of introducing myself to everyone. I am from Myanmar (formerly Burma). I am glad to find this travellerspoint web. My occupation in Myanmar is Tour Guide. Anybody planning to visit Myanmar and need advice please contact me. I will be too glad to answer your inquiries
I'm thinking of adding Myanmar to my travels as it looks beautiful.
My questions are regarding entry and the after effects of Cyclone Nargis and travel.
My girlfriend and i are travelling South East Asia on a budget, and what with global warming we are trying to avoid air travel. We will be in Thailand first, and i understand that there are 2 entry points for travellers to enter into Myanmar by road. From there i don't know how to get anywhere in Myanmar.
As far as Cyclone Nargis, i was wondering if the effects of that have stopped travel, or created anywhere 'off limits'.
I also would not like to go anywhere i'd be a burden, i understand that more tourism would benefit the people of the country financially, however if area's of the country are rebuilding then perhaps we would only get in the way.
We will have only about 2 weeks, which isn't enough to see much of the country but hopefully would still be enough to experience some native culture.
Any help or ideas would be most welcome.
