I'm stopping in shanghai for a few days later this year and am just wondering about requirements for the Chinese visa. on the chinese embassy website (in wellington) it says I need to send a travel itinerary prepared by a travel agent. will hotel booking confirmation suffice or do I need to a detailed plan and evidence of flights out of china? how would this work if i wanted to travel independently and book backpacker accommodation/activities etc as I went along?
(I'm a uk citizen)
We got a Chinese visa back in August and the embassy in Manila didn't ask for flights in or out. We just put our date of entry and exit down and put a list of places we planned to visit roughly in the order we would visit. We just said we were backpackng independently and didn't have an organised tour. This seemed to be enough for them. Maybe you could call the embassy and ask if this is all right?
Thanks Donna. I think I might give the embassy a call to confirm.
Hi Bex - Just posting to say that for our China visawe just put down the name of the first hotel we were staying at, even though we hadn't actually booked it, and that seemed to suffice. I think most people do it this way.
