My intention is to travel from Bangkok airport in Thailand to KL Airport in Malaysia but where should i visit & what route should i take?

I don't want the trip to be too long - 3-4 weeks at the most. Id like to spend a fair amount of time on the coast and would like to do a fair bit of travelling by boat.

I dont want to spend too much on the trip though - i want to be able to enjoy myself but stay in cheap accom & travel as cheaply as i can.

I know for certain i that i want to go visit the thai islands like phi phi/ ban phe etc & see places like krabi and KL in Malaysia. But im very open minded & you guys will probably compile my final itinerary. I basically want to see some amazing places.

All feedback is really appreciated

3 - 4 weeks include both countries, right?

Stop over in bangkok can be done for a couple of day. If you arrive before noon..you may go for city tours include grand palace

next day full day to floating market by join tour

third day fly to phuket by low cost airlines like nok air. relax in phuket.

forth day rent a motor bike to drive around island , evening may be phuket fantasea show?

fifth day check out and depart for phi phi island. find a cheap around island snorkeling at the island.

sixth day...around island snorkeling

seventh day...check out and leave for railey beach by afternoon boat.

eighth day ...do a rock climbing or island hopping or just relax on the beach.

nineth day...relax or some other activities

tenth..leave for airport and fly to langawi

then continue the trip in malaysia part...you can catch a flight from langawi to KL or penang by airasia.

Well if you stick to your route you will miss out on Chiang Mai because it is not on your Bangkok to Malaysia route. I would take the time to see it also. Beaches are nice but take in some of the tourist things around Chiang Mai like the Golden Triangle/Chiang Rai, Long Neck/hill tribes, night market. Travel agencies have a whole list of tours you can look through. Same for Bangkok.

How are your flights arranged? Are you going "one way' to Bangkok and then "one way" back home out of KL? Sometimes one way flights are more expensive than a round trip flight. Compare the prices. You could do a round trip to BKK and then end up back at Bangkok for one night before you fly out. Compare the prices.

If you need recommendations for hotels mention how much per night your budget will handle. What you think is cheap and what someone else thinks as cheap may be quite a bit different!

(You could take an overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai and save paying for another night in a hotel too!)

Good luck on your trip.

In KL, you can visit Twin Towers, KL Towers, Chinatown, Central Market (Malaysian Souvenirs), Eye on Malaysia, Batu Caves and do not miss Alor Rd at night. Try out the food there;)

Thanks for replies everyone,

I prob should have expanded on my intention for the trip a bit more.

I intend to teach English in Thailand in Chiang Mai and live there for about a year so thats why i had missed it out.

I basically want to travel from BKK down the coastal route into Malaysia before i fly back to Chiang Mai. I never had the opportunity to go to the southern islands or Malaysia last time i was in SE asia & i really feel i missed out. Its the adventure of just strapping on my backpack and jumping on a bus or boat to a random place that i love & what im really asking for is some amazing places in southern Thailand & Malaysia that i should not be ignorant enough to miss. I think a lot of you guys who have been out there have some suggestions for some beautiful islands - some beautiful temples - some amazing towns - and some amazing tourist attractions that i would kick myself if i missed.

All replies are really appreciated.
Thanks
