Howdy,

It's best to google on British Consulate in Canberra where it gives u details on how to apply for the working visa...
I've just started a blog which you may be interested in on how i went about applying for one...just select 'travel blogs' on the right left hand side and the title will be under '26 year old Virgin Traveller'..lol

Good luck!

Hi Mo. As an Aussie you can come to the UK on a Working Holiday Visa - check out this site.

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice on the rest of Europe. Perhaps you can extend Soph's suggestion and check out the sites of other consulates.

Regardless, I'm sure you'll have a great time. Let us know how you get on.

All the best,
Michael

You don't need a visa to travel in Europe short-term, but if you want to work you need a working holiday visa.

Pick any country in Europe you like and look whether you can apply. Most European countries have WHV agreements. You can find a list here: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/countries.htm

Also read the information on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Agreement

That link is for countries eligible for WHV in Australia, not which countries Australians can apply for WHV.

  • sigh* Thats what I get for taking shortcuts.

The WHV agreement is reciprocal. If a German can apply for a WHV in Oz an Ozzie can get a WHV in Germany.

Great Modly Being, I'm sorry for not linking to an identical list of countries for Aussies looking to apply for a WHV abroad. Do you absolve me now of my transgression?

WHM scheme is not necessarily reciprocal. The United Kingdom runs the WHM scheme for almost all Commonwealth countries. However, only a handful of them offer the same for UK citizens. For example, eligible Malaysians may apply for WHM visa in the UK and New Zealand, but the reciprocal WHM is only with NZ.

Not until you provide some European government website links which say Australians may apply for WHM visa in their countries.
