I'm planning to go to Cuba in September, for 2 weeks.

I know very little about Cuba and I'm not sure which place is the best to stay in.

Also, would it be cheaper to book separate flights and hotel or to book a package holiday?

Any suggestions?

Hi Zolam,

Do you want a beach holiday only? Or visit some places as well and travel around?

If you want a beach holiday, it's best to buy a package, because normally you get a deal including flight and a week hotel for the price of an international air ticket!

Hi Zolam!

It is definitely cheaper to book a holiday package. Like Utrecht said, sometimes the package is cheaper than any flight you can find (because the package deal is a reduced, special rate). I have heard of people taking a package just to get a flight there and then finding their own accomodation because they didn't want the all-inclusive resort experience. In September you should be able to find some amazing deals.

keep in mind September is Hurrikan season
If you take a package ask if you can change the retourn flight so that you could stay longer and travel on your own around Cuba and how much the change would cost.
otherwise Cuba is a fantastic place, you dont have to book Casa Particulares(the best to stay) or Hotels in advance.

Cuc 10.00-25.00 pp and night
Cuc 3 -4 breakfast
Cuc 8-10 lunch or dinner

this are the costs in Casa Particulares (privat houses)

Hi Zolam

You will love Cuba. Agreed that sometimes international flights would probably cost you the same as an all inclusive package. Especially in September, when you should be able to find some great deals.

The best part about staying 2 weeks is that the second week is really cheap, probably around $200, which is great considering it includes all you can eat and drink! Use it as your home base and get out and see the country. It is beautiful and for the most part, the people are very friendly.

Cuba is not renowned for great food though, especially on the resorts. Tends to be very bland and after a few days you will want to get out for something different.

Where are you thinking of going?

We have gone mostly for Beach holidays, in Cayo Coco, which is very secluded and not much to see other than beach, and once in Jibacoa, which is halfway between Veradero and Havana.
