There is no hard part in arriving in Sydney...especially if you are Irish it seems. Head to County Bondi or Scruffy Murphy's and its as if you never left home apart from the change of scenery!
I have never met so many Irish folk in my life and BOY do you guys know how to drink! And tbh none I have met so far really try to fit in with local life. Tis a bit of a shame. And then the bad rep follows swiftly.
There are plenty of activities to go on too to make chums. Enjoy whatever you do...just make firends with people other than just your compatriots.
You won't have a problem meeting any Irish there in Oz sur half of us are living there. Its trying not to meet us is the problem lol
If your looking for Irish in Cairns try
P.J. O'Brien's The Irish Pub
87 Lake St
Cairns, QLD 4870
But i'm sure u'll run into plenty of us all over the place
Hope this helps a bit
I think it'll just be a bit of a help when i get ever to hear a few familiar accents just to help me settle in ya know...but i'm all for getting right into the Aussie culture and stepping out of the comfort zones etc!!
Wish this next 33 days would hurry up so i can get there!!!
Cheers again mate!!
You’re in the ideal situation. Way better to be on your own and not a group as you’re more approachable. The Aussie are as mad as us and to let you in on a little secret the Aussie women love the Irish Accent .
Just get out there enjoy yourself. It’s a life changing experience. I should know i was there in 2000 & now I’m married to an Aussie n moving back soon.
Hey I definately wouldn't worry about meeting people, travelling around South East Asia at the mo and will be in Oz for a while in July and August so feel free to PM!! Plan to be in Cairns in early August Been surprised at how few Irish we bumped into in Thailand but I'm sure it will be very different in Oz!
Headin over to cairns in november, after i pop in to thailand for a month and then darwin for a month, i know lots of people who have travelled over on their own and "ya dont be on your own for long" is what everyone says! hope ya have a ball...
There's so many irish in Oz I'm surprsied there's any left in ireland. If you head to Sydney go to Bondi to the T Gardens, Cock and Bull pub, also the Rocks in the city and Scruffy Murphys you will meet loads.
