Maybe I'm having a slow day mentally but once I choose my 5 photos, how do I "lock them in"?

Is there a submit button that I can't see, or do I simply navigate away from the page to have them included?

Oh, and now I'm hungry

Yep, simply navigate away...I had that same 'problem' with the redcompetition

Lol, I really need to put a button there - just so people have a sense of completion :)

I know I looked for the submit button for the red competition too. After reloading the page several times, thinking I had a glitch, I quit trying and decided the my picks just weren't going to be tallied. I was wrong.

People like submit buttons.

Maybe just create a short and useless "submitting your vote" animated gif which replaces the image for a second or two before it appears in the right column.
It's not so much the submit button which people want, as the assurance that their action had an effect; the current way is too swift for their perception of how the web works.

Gotta love web 2.0 :)

Can I just say that I'm finding it really hard to nail down only 5 photos. The quality of some of these shots is FANTASTIC!! I came up with an initial selection yesterday, but I am scared to go back for fear of changing all 5 votes

That's an option, but would you be able to change your 5 photos after that like it is now?

Yes, it'd be just a useless temporary "transition" animation (which'd swiftly disappear) inserted into the page flow; no actual functionality would be changed.

Basically something like the little green message that comes up when you submit a location to the map. Think that's probably the best example of something similar in action on the site. Another one that comes to mind is the 'yes, I'm finished adding content to my page' button on the home page when you are customizing it. That button doesn't actually do anything except re-assure people that their choices have been saved.

I suggest you put a submit button that has the "mouse over" affect so that when you try to press it, it moves all over the page and you have to chase it
