Hi everyone!
I'm from Calgary, Alberta and this will be my first time traveling overseas!!!
Last year I decided that I wasn't happy living in the city and felt like a hypocrite working in the oil industry, so I started planning a backpacking trip with my boyfriend and 2 best friends. We all love the outdoors, as we live near the Rocky Mountains and spend our summers hiking and floating in the many lakes around British Columbia. So we're all keen to backpack across Western Europe with our camping gear and see where it takes us. I've always wanted to quit my job and drift around. We won't have anywhere to be for two months!! I'm excited/nervous to be out of my element and the possibilities are endless.

We decided against making a solid itinerary so we only have a few plans:
We're arriving in Amsterdam on Queens Day - April 30th and plan to explore as much as the Netherlands as possible. After we're satisfied, we're going to head to Paris for a day or two to walk through the Catacombs and check out the Cimetiere du PereLachaise. From there, we are heading to Spain and Portugal where we will be spending the rest of our time exploring until June 28th. We bought our tickets to the Daydream Festival in Barcelona because Radiohead is the headliner!!!!!! We're still waiting for other bands to be announced... Radiohead was enough to sell me a ticket, as its nearly impossible to see them in Canada.

Anyway, this site is great and I'll definitely be posting all my photos on my blog as we travel between internet cafes. After reading through the topics on the forum, I'm confident that this is going to be the best time of my life! Yippeeeeeee

I was worried about accomodation so I contacted Camp Zeeburg about the availability on Queens Day because they don't take reservations for people tenting ... thankfully they said no worries, and they will definitely have a spot available. I guess they have a large camping ground...
Getting a hostel would be a nightmare! I would definitely need ear plugs because I'm sure people will be partying through the night since its Queens day and all...
