We are planning a trip from hong kong to singapore (hong kong - vietnam nord to south - cambodia - bangkok - south of thailand - kuala lumpur- singapore) and are wondering how much time we would need for that.
We have 7 - 8 weeks, but are not sure that will do.
Any comments, tips?
my boyfriend and I are going to do exactly the same trip starting from hong kong 16 of april
leaving singapore the 3 of July. If you still interested I made a map with dates and a spread sheet to organize costs and details of the trip.. maybe we can help each other.
What do you think?
You HAVE to include at least 3-4 days in Chiang Mai to get a real feel for the place, I live there and have built a website & blog recently crammed full of useful information about both the city & the surrounding areas.
There are loads of things to do and accommodation to suit every pocket.

Im doing this route too starting 27th April but only over 6 weeks, leave Singapore on 10th June to fly to June.
We originally planned to do Laos and Cambodia but decided it would be too rushed so now we're doing 4 nights HK, fly to Hanoi and bus or train south to HCMC over 2 weeks, fly to Bangkok (havent decided on Chang Mai yet) but we have given 2 weeks for Thailand, then 10 days left to get to Singapore.
We are flying in between because the prices are good plus it cuts out extra visa costs and we get to spend more time exploring Vietnam and Thailand, and hopefully i'll see the countries im missing on a future trip!!!
Ill be interested in what others have to say on this route too
