Hostels arent as cheap as youd think... in my experiance camping is cheaper, alot more fun and you dont have to tip toe into bed late at night for fear of waking everyone in the room up!!
I camped the whole way when i went there back in 2006 all the way up the west coast..... Broome is beautiful and my faviourte spot.... we stayed in a caravan park (with a tent) called Tarangau, its the closest to Cable beach but not near the town so if you dont have a car then its prob not best.... if you do have a car then stay nearer to Cable as its not as packed.... less people know about Tarangau which makes it alot nicer!!

Enjoy

Couldn't agree more, Broome is my favourite place in Australia by along way, and I think its overlooked by a lot of travellers. I stayed there for 2 months and worked at Cable Beach Club. I stayed at Cable Beach Backpackers, which had a great atmosphere. A few friends of mine camped at a nearby campsite and it had pretty good facilities! I was there from Oct - Jan and it was unbelievably hot and humid, I'm not sure if I could have coped without air-con! The whole west coast is gorgeous to be honest.
