Travel Forums Travel Photography Photo Competition : "Water"

April heralds the Thai New Year, celebrated with the Songkran water festival. Travellerspoint will have have a virtual water festival of its own, by making the theme of our next photo competition, you guessed it, water.

Rules are the same as for last month's food competition; if you want to enter, read all about it here.

So I have a question for this photo contest: Do you check that 4 megapixel requirement? (And what exactly do you intend to use the high resolution photo for?)
I have the most awesomest water photo evar (though it'll be a gamble if it'll be featured) - but I took it with my 3 megapixel point 'n shoot way back when - and then it's cropped a bit further.
Perfect quality when resized to 800 pixels wide - but not up to snuff for say, printing in a calendar. So is that photo disqualified from the start, or are the megapixels not that hard a requirement?

Well, a calendar would indeed be a potential use. But it's not really something we're actively considering as an option.

The more immediate use would be for us to print it out at a reasonable size to be framed and hung in our office ;) I think 3 megapixels could possibly scrape through at 8x12.

But the short answer is, it won't be checked overly carefully - we will request a full size copy of the photo though upon winning the competition and at that point have thus far verified with the photographers whether they are ok with us printing off their photo. We should just add that into the terms of the competition though.

Hi! Can anyone tell me when the results of the "Water " photo competition will be published? I thought it was Monday 28 April but I can't find it anywhere.

There's always an unknown number of days between the end of the competition and publishing the results, as the winners need to be contacted first to ask for a high resolution version of the photo (since they hang them up in the travellerspoint office, and as a way to ensure that the winners really "own" that photo, rather than plucking it from online somewhere).

Ok, the results are up at last. Sorry for the delay. One of the winners was on holidays :)
