Hey Becky!

I'm travelling Oz aswell this year! im arriving in Cairns early July with a WHV...can't wait but will be slightly scarey as im travellin by myself!! Australia has the opposite seasons to the UK so when i arrive in July it will be there Winter but iv heard the weather in queensland is very hot most of the year round anyways as for New South Wales (Sydney) i think it can be cold n rainy from what ive heard during the winter season! Tho im sure there weather varies as much as ours here in the UK!!
Sydney seems to be the most popular starting destination for travellers with most signing up with OzIntro but i decided to go with Cairns in Queensland (cuz im hardcore! Lol) n work my way down the east coast hopin to end up in Sydney or Melbourne during the summer months!!

Anyways soz for rambling on..!
Good luck plannin your trip!!

yep, as danny said, most peeps tend to start in sydney as most flights go there. i decided to start off in cairns also, then travel down the east coast. i guess it depends what you prefer, i'd rather get to grips with the country in a quieter area first before tackiling the big cities as i'm flying solo and i also have family to visit in cairns!!

keep us posted with what you decide, maybe our paths will cross at some stage!!:)

Thanks for that i have had a look at some of the areas and think i might start in Perth then move round to Melbourne and hope to end up in sydney for xmas and new year. Would be mad if we did come across each other. Thanks again Becky x

Your best bet would be to start down south of the capricorn if your going in September as it will be coming into their summer then and then as it comes into the winter go further north on either coast.... try not to set off up north to early as summer up north becomes unbearable in that heat... winter up there is just perfect!
