Hello
my name is ronny and in roughly 6 months i will be graduating from high school and am interested in travleing to south or central america. I plan on going with a friend and we are both looking for a relaxing but fun place to go. We don't want to be swarmed with fellow tourists but would enjoy having the option of going out at night, partying and whatever young people like todo, the beach is a must. We are both on a relatively tight budget and would like to experience the local culture as much as possible (food). If you have any suggestions, experiences or advice i am very open minded and would love some input.
thanks for the help
ronny

I have been to Costa Rica in Central America. I think that meets your needs very well. Great beaches without a whole lot of tourists, but enough to make the night life hoping. Get out of San Jose as soon as possible and head to the coast. I was in Montezuma and Manuel Antonio. Both quite nice. You might want to also check out Tamarindo - probably more hopping for a night life scene. You could probably get by on $US 20-40 a day (depending on what level of accomidations you wanted).

Further afield is Chile. You could go down to Santiago / Valparaiso. Santiago has great night life and the beach is close by. Get away for a day or two up into the mountains for some adventure. Very few North American tourists down that way, but you will probably have to fight for beach space with Chilean tourists. I got by down there on $US 20 a day, though Santiago was a bit more expensive than the outlying areas.

How long are you planning on going for?

I am hoping to be able to get away for about 2 weeks. Thanks for the suggestion i will definetly keep costa rica in mind. Another concern of mine is safety if you have any knowledge on that topic it would be useful.
thanks for the help
