ok so I'm going to be arriving in NZ in august for a year or more. I want to get a few things shipped to me like clothes, a PS3 & some games, my portfolio for work, some extra things for my laptop like a portable hard drive, a mouse & tablet.

does anyone have any ideas on a good way to do this. I've been looking online and it seems there are all sorts of customs issues esepecially with consumer goods that are not going to be used for business use. I can't take this stuff with me because I'll be travelling through australia for 4 months before.

I'm thinking for the clothes I can maybe pack a suitcase and have a few friends bring it when they come to visit I won't get them till november but I can wait. as for the portfolio that is business use so that should be fine.

but does anyone know of anyway of shipping media like dvds or videogames with out paying extra customs fees and taxes. I mean these are things I've already payed for I just want to move them from one country to another.

how much is personal storage in OZ/NZ maybe I can take it with me and just leave in locked up for a while?

hi paul- we have just shipped 2 big boxes from the Uk to NZ and one contained around 100 DVDs and a some video games - we had no problems with customs for these and did not have to pay excess duty. we also had computer components - motherboard, memory etc and it was no problem. NZ customs opened both boxes so they must have seen what was in them. annoyingly, the did confiscate a sheesha pipe that we had bought in syria - it was not listed as a banned item and it was a nice souvenir of our trip. :( But i think you will be ok with all the stuff that you mention.
