Travel Forums Europe Coach tours in Europe

Hi, I am travelling to Europe this summer for the first time. I am a 30 yo woman who is travelling by herself. I want to do a coach tour for 10-15 days that covers the highlights. I dont want to go 'one star' and cant afford '5 star', so have been looking at Trafalgar's Breakaway tours. I am really worried about it being a Contiki look-a-like, full of drunks.

Has anyone been on them?
Would you recommend it?
What was the best and the worst thing about it?
What was the average age of the group?

really appreciate your help,

Hi There Jo
I think I speak for most people on this site that the coach tours are bad bad news. I found the one I took to be full of Drunk Americans and Aussies. if thats what ur goin to Europe for, then the tour would be a good idea.

Solo travel is more independent, CHEAPER, and well, builds character as your forced to meet people and sort out ur own way. I recommend just do it urself! you'll meet people as you go and wont be stuck with the same 10-15 people for 2 weeks as you would on a tour.

Since you asked for some comments, I'll say that I've done organized tours and one with Contiki through Europe for that length of time, about two weeks. It was a great experience for me, I also went solo and met new people, and people from all over the world. There have been people on my tours that have been in their 30s as well. Age never really came up or into question, while on the trip, people just had a good time together regardless of age, we were on the trip to experience Europe, see the sights, meet fellow travelers, and have a good trip. Just my personal experience. Enjoy planning your trip.
