Two suggestions...

Travel Forums System Talk Two suggestions...

I know the first suggestion has been discussed before but I'm willing to try and revive a "dead horse". I don't think the second suggestion has been suggested before, though I could be insane (okay, that's a given) and just missed it/forgotten it/ignored it/yadayadayada...

  • Could the issue of the Forum Rules link be brought up for consideration again? Either an increase in size or relocation so it's a bit easier for members to find? I understand not wanting to bludgeon someone over the head with a big Forum Rules stick but I do feel it should be a bit more prominent than it is presently. And yes, I'm speaking from a Moderator's point of view since I've done several violation edits lately. If the topic is not open to consideration - please refresh my memory on the "why" aspect. (Thank you!)

  • Is it possible to include the function buttons to the edit page, like they are when posting a response? Again, I'm speaking from the Moderator's point of view. When editing a post (using the shiny edit button), the function buttons are not included (nor are they when editing one's own posts). I think the Janitors would find having those buttons available very useful. I realize it's extra coding but they sure would come in handy when editing. I do think they should also be available when one is editing their own responses. I know I go back to add something I have forgotten in my post and want to include another link but no URL button to work with. I end up doing the link "by hand" but it's not as efficient as the function buttons.

Okay - those are the requests... Do as you will with them... I promise not to pout too long if the answers are resounding NOs...

The forum rules are actually made fairly prominent for new members (first five posts off the top of my head). They actually show directly below the text area when you're composing the entry.

Good point :) It's not a big job, so I'll save it for a day when I don't feel like tackling something larger..

Scrap that.. the rules only show for first time posters. That could of course be extended or shown in an even more prominent location - ie.. above the submit button.

Thanks Peter!!!!

I know you could have the forum rules in flashing neon colors and they would still be "ignored" by some... But, I think placing them above the submit button is a good idea. Could they appear at least 3 times? (The 3 strikes and then you deserve to be edited idea. Oooohhh, I'm so cruel...)

Also, thanks for considering the function buttons for edits!! It will make linking the Forum Rules easier!!!!! ;)

What about travelguide rules.
Some people irritate me just as equal as spam posters on the forum or photo comments.

I know you can not regulate stupidity of course, but at least every other day I see some copied texts or personal diary copied and pasted right into the travelguide.

Should we have a general punishment button to the left as well, and put every member who has done something wrong in it? Kinda virtual jail, and how long depends on your crime O, spelling is not a crime

I've just made these changes and put them live. I've included a nice little extra for moderators that like to quote the rules too, but probably a good idea not to overuse :)

Oh, and I changed it to show the forum rules for the first 3 posts, as well as include a link there to the rules!

[ Edit: Edit :) ]

No worries, I could help myself once I got started :) If you want any more 'standard messages' added, let me know. It's easy now that the main work's been done!
