hey posted earlier on another thread about checking in your backpack. didn't think most airlines would allow you to take a large pack on as hand luggage.
i'm flying my 1st leg of my journey from edinburgh to heathrow t5 with BA, i read on their website your allowed 2 pieces of hand luggage, a handbag or laptop type bag, a small rucksack bag cant remember the exact dimensions or a bag that weighs less than 23kg and that you can store it in the overhead compartments without any help from anyone.
so in theory i can take my pack on as hand luggage then???
plz help, in panic my packs gonna get lost in the chaos at T5.
i assume it's too late to change your flight(s)?
i avoided heathrow entirely for my trip. (not because of T5, as i didn't know at that stage what a mess it would be, but because heathrow is the pits and to be avoided at all costs anyway!!)
i think, as someone pointed out in the thread i started on this, you're unlikely to be able to pass off your pack as hand luggage. if you manage to get past check-in you're almost guaranteed to get some funny looks at security/xray.
Just check in your backpack and dont worry about it, Im 7months into a RTW
and lost count of amount of flights iv been on,I just tie up the straps and
put it through, went through Heathrow as well and had no problems.
Also imagine u would be taking toiletries etc in your backpack so that cant be taken on as
hand luggage in any case.
If you happen to be going to SE Asia first take as little clothes as possible and buy everything there, you will
save a fortune!!
