Should We Really Bomb These People?

Larry Beinhart reports

Iranians are among the most gracious and hospitable people I've ever met.

from Iran.

What do you think abour Larry's article?
Have you ever travelled to Iran? If so, what do you think?
Do you agree with him or not?

Any people are good people-- there are simply bad people living among them. No one deserves to be killed, hurt, ostracised, etc. etc. based on their nationality, skin colour, language, gender, etc. etc.

That he calls Iranians "these people" and is surprised that they can be "gracious and hospitable" is pretty ignorant, even if his intention is very good.

No, of course we (I'm guessing that the "we" is the Barbarian West?) shouldn't bomb "these people"......they'll get pissed off at some perceived religious or cultural affront and bomb themselves. It would be a tremendous drain on "our" tax base to waste all our bombs. Besides, Persia has some of the best bomb-makers around...ask the United Nations.

There's also an article on the site called Will freedom-loving countries stand up to China? Again, I get the sentiment. And again, the words are telling.

What's freedom-loving? Spending billions and billions to bomb foreign countries (and kill civilians) while "freedom-loving" people at home die from lack of universal healthcare? Some freedom. Or should I say FreedomĀ®.

There's no such thing as total freedom. We are bound by the laws and ethics and morals and hang-ups and unhappiness and so on and so on that rule over us. The truly free man walks around with a smile all day long and is at total peace. How many people do any of us know that do that? Well, except for beerman, of course. ;)

Oh course!! ;)

Here's the wonderful part about the internet - no matter what you want to say or do, there will be some article or website or whatever to support one's point of view. Bomb Iran? Why? Of course the people are nice. Just like most every other country in the world, the people are nice and it's the government that sucks. Get over it. The point has been made - the West sucks. Just remember the old adage of "Those who throw stones..." FYI - the West isn't the only one who has a stockpile of stones.

Left-wing media is just as bad as right-wing media. When you have a point to prove, there's info everywhere to back you up. We just have to take it all with a grain of salt.

its all crap.. bomb them now! oops i thought we were talking about bomb shots. In which case, yes we should bomb them. How bout a little energy drink and alcohol for them? we'll reel em in with our mind bending combinations of depressants (alcohol) and stimulants (caffenie, taurine, gurana, etc).

on a more serious note, lets take a little history lesson. Dont we all recall those nice german boys who were cleaning up the country side while looking 'like nice people?' i'm not saying Persians are like Nazis but we're not getting the full story as usual. So to say they are nice people is probably accurate becuase there are nice people everywhere. There are good and bad in every country (people.. or ressembelances of them).

In the end, there is only one way to 'bomb' them. Economic sanctions. We dont have to bomb them, we could however stop purchasing their oil which in my opinion would be a far better choice.

And as usual, you make no difference between people and governments. Everyday people never deserve to be bombed, never. Politicians are responsible for wars, always have been, and always will be, but they never have to face reality. Economic sanctions will also just backfire upon you, cause it never hurts the people that make the decisions. In times of crises countries unite, no matter who is in charge of the country. Bombing a country means giving the politians over there even more reason to point to the US, and that helps to steer clear from the problems within the country itself.

In the end there is only one solution, and that is to wait for change from within. As it happened in 1989 in Eastern Europe. If too many people of discontent or even angry at it's own regime, it's never a question if change will come, but when it will come.

No-one wants to bomb the Iranian people.
Bombing civilian centres never won a war (Luftwaffe -v- UK or Bomber Harris -v- Germany).
Of course, screaming Death To America (+ allies) & Israel for 30 years while creating an unfettered and disguised nuclear program could attract some form of aerial retaliation, but you don't waste a $100,000 missile on a block of flats in Tehran, Isfahan or Qom.
