hey just wondering how long it would take to get from surat thani to kl or singapore over land, either by train or buses? also how much would it cost me? im eventually going into indonesia but i would like to do this route by land as opposed to flying from bkk direct to indonesia! any advice? also does anyone know how long it would take to get a 60day indonesian visa in kl/singapore?
thanks..

State Railway of Thailand
Malaysia Train

Maybe you can buy train ticket to Butterworth. If cant, just buy ticket to Hatyai and from Hatyai buy another ticket to KL. Travel by train is comfortable, easy and safer. By bus might be faster.

Hey, by "land" you could try taking a ferry from Singapore or Johor Bahru in Malaysia - Regular ferries run to points in Indonesia... Flying would be an easier option though - its going to be a long journey overland, depending on where you are visiting...

I recommend taking a bus from Surat Thani to Hat Yai (6hrs, 220-240 baht), followed by another bus from Hat Yai to Singapore (about 12 hours, Singapore $45, could be less).
From Singapore you can then take a ferry into Indonesia. You can get to Batam in about an hour.

At the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, visas take 3 working days to process. :)
