Best places in Buenos Aires ?
would like to invite my brother to a good Tango show while in BA next week.
I saw a lot of ads for shows but none of them was realy tempting since the looked far to touristic and overpriced dinner shows.

bentivogli ? any suggetions?

MichaelAngelo on a Sunday night is half price. The food was amazing, the champagne on reception great and the wine very very plentiful. Ask for seats near the front.

It was in San Telmo and I booked it via my hostel - Tango City, also in ST.

Alternatively on a Sat avo go down Boca and watch it for free whilst sipping a beer or three.

Tango shows are always a bit tricky; the point is to find one that draws the right kind of tourists, rather than one that is not touristy at all (the latter does not exist).

The best thing would of course be to visit a milonga, which usually includes one of two demonstrations and a lot of normal dancing. But if you want a show, there is this one place on Caminito (Boca) that isn't too bad. Forgot the name, but they usually have a couple of dancers outside as well. An other possibility would be Club del Vino (Palermo) (but that's just music, no dancing; really good food, though), and there also is a good restaurant+show on Bolivar (San Telmo), between Alsina and Moreno. Huge blue sign outside, can't miss them.

I recommend Saturday night at "Los 36 Billares" 1271 de Mayo Ave. or Monday night at "La ideal" 380 Suipacha st. the rate with dinner is around $70 (pesos)

Second billares (one of the best, esp. when they have live music), but la Ideal I found to be one of the worst tourist traps. The venue is splendid, though.

Check out this place: in San Telmo
I was there a few years ago and had a great time,
its a smaller venue and less touristy than most,
we were the only gringos in the place that night.
