I am from uk and am off to new zealand hopefully in november. BUT i have been applying for jobs now through seek like agencies, for tourism jobs. they replied more or less straight away when you send your CV. A couple of tourism agencies were interested so I am positive about getting a job. I want to know is:

Is it easy to get a job in NZ?
If I love NZ lots and the company likes me, could they sponsor me to stay in the country longer ?

Thanks

Nicola

hi nicola

it should be easy for you to find a job in NZ - there is a general labour shortage at the moment, and tourism is a thriving industry so you should be fine. it should also be fairly easy for you stay if you wanted to - either by applying for a work permit through your employer (you just need a job offer and the permit would normally last either 1 or 2 years) or by applying for permanent residency through your employer.

also try www.backpackerboard.co.nz for tourism jobs, and its good for accommodation too.

Hi Nicola

Dont worry too much about getting a job when you get here. I"m from the UK too, and in the tourism industry. I wanted to stay in the industry when i arrived and after a week or so of looking i found a really good job at a wicked hpliday park in a national park on the north island. I arrived late October and was working by mid November. Depends where you go too. I think your best bet is to pick a place, and arrive with a heap of CVs to hand out and go from there.

Good luck and dont put it off. NZ is a stunning country and you'd be nuts to miss out!!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers

Fee
