Greg_54 has indicated that this thread is about Egypt

I am going to visit Egypt this September as i heard that it is off season. My question is should i book tour or go by myself

I have just read comment at lonelyplanet forums from independant travelers. This is part of the thread :

The touts are more than annoying : they are relentless, rude and aggressive. They use stand over tactics and physically place themselves in front of you while you are walking to force you to acknowledge them. The so called "Tourist Police" are the worst touts of all as they demand baksheesh while holding machine guns.

We were actually made to feel prisoners in a Cairo perfume shop that we had been duped into going into "just to get a business card" after asking for directions. The shop owner/tout yelled at my wife and stood over her when she said we were not interested in buying anthing. I had to use aggressive bodylanguage to get my wife and daughter out of the shop.

Even though we have learnt arabic words, taxi drivers will still take you to the wrong location After reading this part i would prefere to go with organized tour specially that i am going alone but with my girl friend also and we want to enjoy our time and don't be stressed!

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Hm. My experience in Egypt wasn't really like this at all. The taxi drivers took us to the places we expected to be taken, and the touts were pretty obvious and easily avoided ('the museum is closed. I know another museum...'). A polite but firm 'la, shukran' repeated a few times usually gets rid of the more persistent ones.

Don't be worried into taking an organised tour by one person's bad experience - just take the usual common sense precautions and you'll be fine.

And the tour company you mention may be apparently reasonably priced, but it won't be reasonable, or give you the freedom, compared to doing it by yourself.

Thank you every one for your reply! now i feel safe more and really looking forward my Egypt trip.

Mr Ahmeddelta : Thanks for your comment to my thread but i really didn't want to hear comments from Egyptians as i guess it wouldn't be fair enough!
Also i don't need recommendations about tours as you assure me now that Egyptian people only want tourists money! you try to sell tours so please don't bother travelers !
