Hi, There is a small chain of pubs called Bev and Micks (three that I know of), I stayed in the one next to Queen Vic market at the top of Elizibeth street. $70 per week (very cheap), I was there for 3 months and it was the cheapest place I found. Local buisnesses ring each morning for casual workers (you just have to be waiting in the bar between 7am till about 9am). Hope this helps, good luck. Melbourne is good, lots to see and do. |

Hey guys! Am arriving in Melbourne on 30th of Oct and stating with a friend for a few days but then want to find my own place. Is is possible to find shared accom (ie sharing a flat) for just a month or two? If so, which sites tell you where to look!!? Also, is finding work going to be affected by the global recession? Cheers for advice! Haz |

Hazza, try melbourne.gumtree.com.au for flatshares. Also drop in on a couple of backpackers hostels, check out the notice boards there - there could be someone looking for a flatmate |
