It looks like im going to have 2 weeks off in the beginning of july - peak tourist season - YUK! and im gonna have very little money, about €350 maybe...
where can I go for 2 weeks which is cheap and isnt going to be bombarded with tourists? ill be travelling alone and im female, which doesnt bother me really, but im not really keen on going to morocco or egypt alone, if im not on a tour, and i dont have the money, or really the desire, to go on a tour (like to do things on my own or with friends).
Im thinking about estonia/lithuania/latvia...
im planning on spending 2 weeks in portugal and 2 weeks in croatia in september.. and ill start working in london in july for 2 months where ill take weekend trips throughout the UK, and im currently living in amsterdam...
soooo somewhere cheap and friendly, ill prob couchsurf to save a few pennies!!
how bout gettin cheap flight to scotland, depending on your interests there is plenty to do there, Im sure from amsterdam you can fly into edinburgh, glasgow, aberdeen or inverness, maybe even fly into edinburgh and tour round and up to inverness for flight back? plenty of cheap places to stay, i toured for a month a couple of years back and it didnt break the bank.
yeah im gonna do scotland later on, when im earning pounds... otherwise the euro to the pound sucks a bit... id rather go somewhere cheap where i get more for my money!
come up here to scotland in August, but book early, the fringe festival is a great party for 3 weeks in August. but forget scotland unless u have 1000 pounds for 2 weeks.
for 2 weeks with only 350 euros! in July peak season in europe! hmmmm tough one. You will need to avoid the south, balkans ect. so i think ur right on the Baltics. Altho places like Riga and Tallinn may not be the cheap choice anymore, or for long, u will deal with UK stag parties, can it get any worse.?
Vilnius is a fantastic city and cheap and NOT on a easyjet route from the UK.
So id say maybe Poland and Lithuania?
But I just had a great time in Slovakia. and one euro beers!
2 weeks in Slovakia and Romania maybe? transylvania?
haha yeah its a pretty tight one!! ill prob have a bit more than €350 but id much rather under budget than over, ill also have more $ on my credit card, but id rather just assume im going to have very little money and realise by the time i get there, that i have enough!!
im going to try and couchsurf most of the time, so thats a big expense gone...
id love to go to scotland, but theres no way id spend €1000 on a 2 week trip... i spent about €750 on a 2,5 week trip in italy and even then i thoguht that sometimes i spent some money where it really wasnt necessary haha! i can be a bit of a tightarse... the flight isnt included in my budget btw...
if i go to the baltics, im going to fly in to one city and fly out of another, and its not too expensive... im based in amsterdam so and i need to visit a friend in antwerp before i go, and theres some cheap airline that travels to one of the capitals for really cheap, from brussels, so ill prob fly from there... that was very vague but atm i forget the details :P
given that my choices of activities are often taking photos and walking around, i dont need alot of $$ for outings... and i have a student card, which was accepted everywhere in prague even though i havent been a student since june 2006... so i hope theyll accept it in other eastern european places too!
ive heard about the stag parties in the baltics, bleh. but if i couchsurf im hoping to go somewhere the stags arent!
how is bulgaria?
yeah Bulgaria is really cheap too and a good option. Just avoid the Black sea area, Varna ect, cuz it wil be heap sof tourirsts!
Valiko Tornova and Sofia are a good time. U could do Romania and Bulgaria for two weeks.
yeah theres a budget airline that flies to sofia and bucharest from a'dam which is handy for me, which is why i had the idea for sofia! i might have to have a look around on the net for things about bulgaria/romania... tho i do really wanna go to the baltics as well lol
too many places to go, not enough time/money - i envy ppl who live in europe who have the time to go away all the time! going back to australia will be shit :P
