According to the last world beer cup, Wisconsin took home more awards than most countries.
Cheers!

Is that the beer "world" cup where only beers from the USA can take part, like the "World" series baseball (plus 1 from Canada, hehe)?

No, its more like English dental care, all over the place!

The actual best beer in the world is Doris's 90th Birthday Ale, brewed by the Old Crown at Hesket Newmarket, Cumbria, which is coincidentally one of the best pubs.

Guiness Ice Cold is the invention of heathen lager-swilling fools! The original Guinness is soooo much better (in an irish pub, from a good barman, of course);)

In my more than 40 years of drinking beer I can honestly say that my favourite beer is the one I have in my hand right now!

The best beer is always either the next one, or a free one. Ideally, of course, both.

I'd say the Belgians and Germans fight for the best beer, though there are lots of really good ones all over the world, especially of the lager type. Baring certain "dry" countries, i've never been to a country which has not had at least one or two great local beers, though some places you have to find the small/local beers. But like many have mentioned, the best beer for you normally depends on circumstances/surroundings as well as the physical brew. Eg..

Best beer drank: Probably Beerlao floating down the Nam Song in Vang Vieng Laos.

...which if drunk in a dodgy pub on a rainy day in Sidcup, would probably not have quite the same affect on you, despite the fact it is a very good beer ((side note - I was actually disappointed by beerlao. I'd heard so many people saying how amazing it was and that it was the best beer they had ever drunk, that i couldn't wait to try it. Yet whilst it is a good beer, Lao is an amazing country, and the beer is cheap, i didn't get anything special from it. I think it had just been overhyped in my head, and thus could never really live up to it))

Beer Chang closely followed by beer Laos, sitting in my back garden in Bangkok. How I miss those days and nights.

Now, no-one take this the wrong way - this is NOT my normal drink, but I was at a party the other day and I did try a Special Brew / White Lightning snakebite combo!!!
Bloody hell, it all went very weird after that!!!!!!!!!!! It wasn't the best beer in the world but it was surely the strongest and make-things-go-all-mentalist beer I have ever had!
