I am currently in Sao Paulo after 2 great months in Colombia and looking to head to Buenos Aires to stay one month at the beginning of May.
How can I get a flat/flatshare? Which barrio would you recommend? How much should I budget for the flat? I want to spend as little time in the hostel as I possibly can, so to live in this beautiful city like an Argentinian...
Thanks for your help,
Most tourists tend to stick with Palermo, Belgrano, Recoleta or The Microcentro (think: obelisk). There's an abundance of websites out there catering for weekly/monthly tourist rentals, so google is your friend. Expect to pay at least $600 (USD) per month for a decent place, and you'll usually need to put a months rent down in advance as a security deposit. For this you should get AC (you won't need it this time of year), internet, maid service, fully furnished etc. Look harder and you may get a bargain at $500 US/month. Prices have gone up a lot over the past few years.
I'd also recommend barrios such as Congresso (I lived there for 3 months last year), perfectly safe and much more interesting architecture, though a little dirtier than the usual tourist barrios.
I don't have any experience of looking for a flat-share, so can't help with that one.
I recommend also "Congreso" , searching in maps is around Moserrat and San Cristobal neigborhoods.
Well, that´s not cheap ah... will have to look harder and find something cheaper... does anyone know of any good Argentinian website for house renting or houshares for argentinians, not tourists? Something like the gumtree or moveflat in the UK?
we have just booked through them. not cheap, but good value if you are staying for a month or so.
