any suggestions on the best thai island to visit in august?looking for a bit of tranquility, have been to the likes of samui, phuket and phi phi and although beautiful just a little too overcrowded for my liking,it has to be suitable for august, have beautiful beaches and if it aint in the guide books all the better!
Well they are both in the guide books, but Koh Lanta and Koh Tao are great places to relax, as is Koh Phagnan if you hit a quieter beach in the north.
I would say pick the side that is least effected by the rain that time of year.
Not been to either of the others mentioned by Degolasse, but I have to say I definitely found Koh Lanta more chilled out than other touristy places in Southern Thailand.
Ko Tarutao in Satun Province
is koh taratuo easy enough to get to from bangkok and is august suitable?cheers oposa
I spend a couple of very chilled and wonderful days on Ko Muk on the Andaman Coast. It's part of the Jao Mai National Park and there's a few more Islands closeby where you can go diving/snorkeling or just simply relax.
We stayed in a hut right by the beach for 800 Baht a night and if you feel like you need some activity after all, you can explore a massive cave in the area. I definitely loved it there!
looks lovely steff but im going in august so theres a good chance of poor weather!
