Hi need some advice real quick, back home in less than 3 weeks, still want to see Ayers rock, but money is going short, have 3 of us thinking of renting a wicked camper for 2 weeks, and final week, leaving Adelaide driving to Uluru and back to Sydney, I know if it is possible its gonna involve one heck of a lot of driving, but has anyone done this route and is it possible?!!?
Did the first part, started in Melbourne, did not went back but further north.
From Adelaide to Uluru is two days of driving and not even very long days. But in one day it is impossible, because that means you have to drive bits after dawn....not recommended except with a truck
One day in Uluru/Kata Tjuta and 2 days back makes 5 days. Adelaide - Sydney I don't know if it is possible in one day, but I am sure in two days.
So 7 days is possible and doesn't even mean driving from dusk till dawn
well i flew to the centre from sydney. camped in the outback for a week going down to adelaide, went to melbourne and then back to sydney via bus. i think i did it in 2 weeks but we stopped lots. spent 3 night in uluru and a couple of days in adelaide, a few days in melbourne. if you keep moving id say you can do it easy but you might need to take problems into account like breaking down and stuff like that.
Yes it's possible, I have driven from Alice Springs (near Ayers Rock) to Sydney in 3 days. It was a long drive but you can do it, as for Adelaide to Ayers Rock, you will be able to do that in 2 days without a problem.
Have fun, Ayers Rock had better be worth it
