Hi Batu00,
I am planning a trip to Turkey this december. But because of the weather may have to change my plans and go to Egypt instead. I am going to be watching your thread!

We just booked a trip to Egypt for Dec 08 also. My understanding, from what I've read, that the weather is in the 70's during the day and colder in the evenings.

Does anyone know how safe it is for Americans traveling there right now? I have heard it's safe.

7 days is not a whole lot but it is definitely possible to do some good stuff. Weather wise, the north (Cairo etc) will be quite cold so you would definitely need appropriate clothing for that. The south (Luxor, Aswan) etc. will be quite warm. As far as an iterinary is concerned, give yourself 3 full days in Cairo (this includes your day trip to the Pyramids of Giza and Saqqara). You can do an overnight trip to Aswan or Luxor by train. Luxor warrants 2 full days (this includes your trip to the Valley of the Kings). Aswan warrants one full day. The Nile experience in Aswan is by far the best. Were you also planning on doing the Nile Cruise as part of your seven day trip?
