Im a web designer and im looking to relocate to india. However, i dont know where to start
i have a couple of questions...
1. Which cities are desirable to live? I would prefer to live by the coast as i assume it gets very humid inland but essetially it is more important to find work.
2. How much would i be looking to pay for rent. At the moment i have £0 so im looking for somewhere cheap.

Any info would be appreicated. Thanks.

Coastline in India is equally humid. Coastal city having best working atmosphere is Mumbai(ex-Bombay). But living cost is very high there. I would suggest Bangaluru(ex-Bangalore). It is not a coastal city but weather is moderate. Lots of work. Expect to pay Rs. 5000/month for a one room flat.

Bangalore is the IT city of India. And the climate is quite good. Best choice.

ok cool. I think bangalore seems like a good option then!

so 5000 is approximately £62 in english money. Does that sound about right?
Whats the situation with deposits? Any idea how much that will be?

Im trying to figure out exactly how much i need to save.

Do i need to apply for work permits etc?

thanks for your help guys.

If you are alone and on a really tight budget staying as a paying guest is a good option. Pay about Rs. 7500 and you get your breakfast and dinner along with bed and no deposit. You should be ready to gulp Indian food. If you are renting a flat you probably have to pay deposits. Varies considerably. Expect to pay something between Rs. 100000-300000. You have to go through all official paraphernalias for working in India. Enquire with your nearest Indian embassy.

If you are looking for a nice job, you would most probably find it either in Mumbai or Bangalore or probably in Delhi. Now, both Mumbai and Bangalore are good for foreigners and you find a lot of working foreigners there. Mumbai is quite costly and crowded. Bangalore is not yet their but following suit.

I dont think you can find a room with food in Rs 7500, could be one of the lesser known/shabby places.

In Bangalore it ll be more than Rs.10,000 in any decent sort of place. In Mumbai rents are upwards of Rs 30,000 in any place worth mentioning.

But in the end it all depends on what job you are getting and what kind of lifestyle you want to lead.
