Hi, I'm a young Australian seeking work in the French countryside. I have a one year working visa and don't mind where in France I end up... as long as the people are friendly and the sun shines sometimes. Ideally I'd like to stay with a family and help out on the farm in exchange for accommodation, food and a small amount of money. I've also heard that in the summer some big farms employ backpackers for the harvest. how do you find these jobs? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Merci!! :0)

I know that you can work in the vineyards, i think in july, august, september. just as grape-picker. i hear that department of dordogne is a popular place for that. maybe you can consult an "office de tourisme". you can write an email to this one of the village of Perigord in dordogne http://www.tourisme-ceou.com/.

Sure, it's a cliché, but there is a reason why a visit to France is a must if you're planning to do a European tour.
