We suck at soccer/football over here, but we do love the good ol' hockey game. Lord Stanley's cup is up for grabs and the city of Montreal is in full playoff swing. I don't even like hockey and here I am, watching a very snowy CBC (dang my one bunny ear), on pins and needles as the refs are debating a goal for the Canadiens.

Anyone else following the playoffs? Does it make the news elsewhere in the world?

It never gets mentioned in the news in NZ. I don't even know if there are any ice hockey teams in the whole country! But now I'm living in Alberta and it's on the news every night. It's Flames this and Flames that. A lot of cars have the flags flying out the windows too.

Hockey is surprisingly popular around the world T, but yes, it's only you and your one bunny ear......

It was always huge in Chicago when the Blackhawks would get into the playoffs.....never quite understood the game myself, but it is occasionally fun to watch. Remember the 1980 Olympics? Some people get absolutely rabid about ("aboot" in Canada) the whole season. And when we were in Calgary, we saw Flames stuff everywhere too.

Kombizz, make sense when you type. These random comments make no contribution to the thread, and are not funny. Please go back to drooling on your pictures of Pameela.

Ha! Me and my bunny ear will rule the world! Mwahahaha....er, oops, wrong thread...

But all this excitement is fun! A month ago I couldn't have named more than 2 players on the team, but now I even have the Russian names down pat. Kinda. If we can stop rioting long enough to enjoy a win, we may make it yet...

And yes, kombizz--lay off the booze. You're going to wind up arrested with a guy named Bubba trying to make nice in your cell.

I don't watch hockey but I used to because my dad liked hockey. I actually understand hockey more than I do football and it's definitely more fun to watch in person. The play-offs go on forever so just have Rip play the role of the second bunny ear as soon as he gets there.

We'll probably be asked to explain hockey because Bubba will be too busy to do it.

I'm in a pool. I have mostly Sharks and Penguins. Penguins are looking like a decent pick, but the Sharks are sucking wind against Dallas, down 3 games to 0 right now. Very sad. At least I won my regular season pool. Right now, I would guess that it'll be Pittsburgh versus Detroit in the finals. Pittsburgh should make quick work of the New York Rangers, and be able to finish off either Philly or Montreal (sorry Tway). Detroit should finish off Colorado quickly, and looks strong enough to beat either Dallas (who has been very surprising this year) or San Jose. Ya never know, though. Perhaps my Sharks will pull back and win 4 in a row against Dallas, and then crush Detroit.

And hey, we aren't so bad at Soccer/Football. Toronto FC is 3 and 2 this season, on a 3 game winning streak. Go FC!
