vngreen : thanks for the suggestion.

Btw, roughly how much would spend over there if everything budget up with 1 week trips. 2D Hanoi, 3D Halong Bay and 4D Sapa...

Well to give you an idea l took £500 worth of US dollars with me for a 3 week trip in November and brought cash home - and l hadnt pre booked or pre paid any accomodation or any trips, and it allowed for eating out every night, drinks and getting some clothes made too. VN is cheap compared to western standards and a lot cheaper than in comparison to Thailand for example.

We spent 4 days in Hanoi, 2 days one night in Halong Bay which was just right, as we were traveling down to Saigon.
We paid I think it was $25 each for the Halong bay cruise, all food but no drinks provided. We booked through our Hotel and had a fantastic time, it also included Kayaking and visits to caves. Look through my gallery to see fantastic pics!
We didnt go to Sapa it was too cold at that time of year (Feb 08)
The trains were fully booked for the length of our visit to Vietnam, so had to take a couple of 12 hour coach journeys, which are not very safe e.g. changing drivers while bus is still driving.
