Hi,
I am legally licensed to drive in the US, and while I have applied for an "International driver permit" from AAA in the states, it hasn't arrived yet. So, I guess my question is, should I decide, hypothetically of course, to drive from Bratislava to Salzburg in a rented car, am I likely to get arrested or fined?

If you intend on driving Bratislava-Salzburg then you would be driving in 2 countries - not only Austria, but Slovakia as well.

Yes, but living in Slovakia, I have already determined that I am adequately documented to drive here.
