Hi people!
Im also going to be in Auckland area for Xmas and NYE (also my 25th birthday - drink anyone?!) so would love to meet up with fellow lone travellers.
I love the sound of the Coromondel Beach parties.
Message me if you fancy meeting up - all I know at the moment is that I am staying at the Fat Camel Hostel for 2 days (one of those starter package things)

May see you there!

been a vetran of the kiwi road trip for a while now theres a few main spots for new years,
the coromandel is a beautiful spot and theres usually quite big parties but there usually full of pissed kids from auckland,a better alternative if up north is great barrier island top spot with good camping and a good atmosphere,
my favourite place to go at this time is the golden bay area top of the south where there is always festivals usually they go for 3 days of so.
most of them splintered from the legendary gathering festivals, now there is alpine unity, visions, rippon, the roots fest in kaikora and a swag of smaller ones,
theres nothing better than the camping music and antics of a kiwi new year
get hold of me if you want to know more ill be home in a few weeks

Hi Gordon,

Like others in the thread said, there are tons to do in the New Years. In Auckland, Sky City usually have this concert thing at the casino and then there's fireworks. The city itself is pretty busy with heaps of people roaming around so there won't be a lack of things to do while you're here. Places remain open pretty much all night. I hope you have a great time while you're here. And who knows? I might bump into some of you while you're here!!!

Hi everyone! My name´s Vicky, I´m Argentinian, and also going to New Zealand. I will be arriving in Auckland on the 31st and I am desperate to know what to do in New Year´s Eve so I would appreciate if someone tells me of any party that will be held in that city or a near one. I will probably stay in Auckland for a month and then go to Cristchurch, if anyone is interested in joining me or meeting me (someone intesting from a different country) feel free to write me.
Hoping someone does.Love,
Vicky

Season's Greetings...Merry X'mas and wish all a blessed new year 2007..
About accomodation in NZ..I would suggest YHA if you do not mind sharing rooms - it has good facilities and cleanliness. It's also affordable especially to backpackers. I have stayed in YHA Mt.Cook, Kaikoura, Picton, Wanganui, Taupo, Rotorua, Waitomo and Auckland. Each YHA hostel has its own uniqueness.
