I'm planning a trip round eastern europe in July, and have booked flights to prague and flying back from Tallin, Estonia.
Traveling around by bus and train
Does this sound like a good plan?
Prague - 3 Nights
Bratislavia - 2 Nights
Piestány - 1 Night
Tatry Mountains - 2 Nights
Krakow - 2 Nights
Warsaw - 1 Night
Vilnius/Kaunas - 2 Nights
Riga - 2 Nights
Jurmala - 1 Night
Parnu - 1 Night
Tallin - 2 Nights
The other option I thought of would be to skip out Slovakia (Bratislavia, Piestány and Poprad) and spend time in Zakopane to see the mountains and more time in Latvia and
Any suggestions or ideas would be great, thanks!
Your second option sounds better, altho I love Slovakia but you missing out on same good nights in the Baltics,
Do 2-3 nights in Vilnius atleast - I spent a week there and one of the best traveling ever did, its a great city not over run with tourists yet. Good Hostel and good vibne in the town for Jazz and underground music.
yes go to zakopane its very pretty. i was there in january trying my arm at skiing
I think Slovakia is somewhere you should consider to spend some time at, however missing the Baltic countries would be a shame. I think that if you go to Slovakia you should reduce your stay in Bratislava, 1 night would be enough, and put this other spare night you'd get somewhere else.
Thanks for all the info. I think I may go with the 2nd option, and visit Slovakia on a seperate trip.
Does anyone know the easyest way to travel from Krakow or Warsaw to Vilnius? it seems a little limited.
And... would it be better to try and book trains/buses before hand or book when abroad.
From Krakow to Vilnius the IMO best and most fun way is to take the train to Berlin and fly with airBaltic from Berlin to Vilnius.
There is also the option of train, but it runs only 1 once a day from Warshaw and takes forever. See seat61.com for the details of the connection.
