Well I've been in australia for a month and I'm having a blast... even though it has rained on me all but 4 days.
Sydney was awesome I had a hard time leaving there, but after 2 and a half weeks I pulled myself away to book a great ocean road/grampiens tour. left Adelaide after two nights. and did the great ocean road again but with a roommate from a hostel...even better the second time. heading north to get away from the rain. Sydney again but only for a day or two or three or four and then I'm off to Coffs harbour to get some diving in.
if anyone here is worried about meeting people or gettting by don't fret
I really scared and worried so Im glad to read this thread 3 months to go till I leave!!! x x x
Good stuff Cool Paul.
Yes, the rain's been a shocker.
If you get the chance to go to Noosa Heads you should take the opportunity.
its not raining here in sydney today, the suns beating down!!!!!!!!!-i came from melb yesterday and its really cold down there now!!-
im suposed to fly to the u.s on wednesday with my mate iv been travelling with, we have been travelling since oct, and im getting nervous because my whv doesnt expire till oct this year and il be wasting it, but we have been nearly everywhere in australia except adelaide and the west coast!, we got jobs in melbourne but it was time to move on
as it was cold and wet!- oh and i would have liked to have gone to new zealand and fiji, but i only have enough for america (6 weeks)- iv having a hard time deciding what to do, either leave oz on wed with my mate and do the states together, or stay in oz work maybe in construction (as i do back home) and earn alot then do new zealand fiji etc.. then head to the states solo? erm...............
"More travel" is always better, imo. As long as you're certain that you can earn the money you need, I'd recommend going for the latter option. New Zealand is a gorgeous country, and it'd be a shame to miss it. And that's an awfully long time on your WHV that you'd be throwing away. Yes, it's always hard to part ways with someone you've been travelling together with for such a long time - but solo travel definitely has its benefits as well, and in the end, I imagine you're taking this trip for yourself - not for him.
I've seen some posts on the board saying there was a decent amount of construction work in Perth, too (check up on that on your own, as I might be mis-remembering), so working there would more easily let you explore a part of the country you haven't seen yet at the same time.
Where have you been that it has been that poor? Come to Tasmania (where everyone on the mainland bags as the worst weather in Australia). It has probably had about 6 days of rain in the last 6 months (it will probably be getting a bit worse in the coming weeks). If it isn't sunny, it has had a little cloud cover but rarely does it rain during daylight hours and if it does it is usually only for a brief period.
Coffs Harbour can rain a lot too...are you going up to Byron Bay? It's really nice there! And, if you like to surf, check out Crescent Head...Long rights!
Ive been here for about 4 months and i have only seen 4 days of rain its been amazing!
if you wanna get away from it and see the tropics go to broome and darwin soo pretty! kimberleys is my fav place so far. havent been to sydney .. is it worth it?
