I need a bit of help....
Currently, I am a cruise ship worker, I work in the Duty-Free shops aboard some very large ships. I am thinking it is a time for a change in jobs, and I was wondering if anyone could assist in directing me to find a job somewhere in the Caribbean. I'm highly experienced in customer service, as well as graduating from Travel and Tourism in my local college 2 years ago.
I've looked on the net, but I just seem to be going in circles. Any help would be wonderful.
I've seen some ads in the Canadian papers for cruise jobs in the Caribbean. Also you can try http://www.rccl.hospitalityjobs.hcareers.com/jobs, for royal caribbean jobs, or better yet a cruise ship placement http://www.cruiseplacement.com/html/cruis.htm. That should be helpful.
Sorry i cant help with your query. I am trying to think of jobs that i would enjoy and get to travel and i thought your job sounded like fun. How did u get the job? Do you enjoy it? Do u get to look around the countrys you stop at? How much do u work? what is the pay like? Sorry for soo many questions!
Not sure if you have seen this site - http://www.hospitalityjobs.hcareers.com/seeker/
I would also think about applying to each of the "big" resort companies down that way - Melia et al.
Oh, and like Shana asked - how much of the countries you visit do you get to see? Do you get to disembark with the passengers, or are you stuck working when the ship is in port?
By working in the gift shops (Duty-free), we are required by laws to be closed while in port, so almost all of the islands/cities that we have docked in I have seen extensively. I've been fortunate enough to see most of the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, the Pacific coast and Alaska. I love my job! But as you can see, I am thinking of a resort job...I love ships, but it's tough sometimes to get people to visit and can be a bit lonely without family for such a length of time.
Thanks for the website, I'm going to check it out now.
