I was just looking at booking like a 6 day trip overland from Adelaide to Alice Springs, and was just wondering if anyone had done it and would say it was worth doing? Just wondering as it's pretty pricey (about AUSD900), in comparison to just flying up there, which would cost about 200!! Also any recommendations for companies to go with?
Thanks so much!
Im not to sure if this is what your looking for. But the Ghan, train, runs from Adelaide to Alice springs. Not to sure if you've looked at that as a option.
I travelled from Alice to Adelaide overland on the train, as I had a 6 months trains pass for the Ghan, Indian Pacific and the Overlandhttp://www.gsr.com.au/backpackers/index.html. It worked out quite cheap as I used it between Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, then later Darwin, Alice Springs, Adelaide and Melbourne (stopping in each of the cities to see stuff)
Hey guys, thanks for your replies, but I actually meant like a bus tour or 4wd kinda thing, so you get to stop off in Coober Pedy and some other mountain ranges and that kinda thing on your way there. Anyone done any of those tours? www.aventuretoursaustralia.com.au is one of them - I'm just wondering if you really see all that much on the way there to justify spending the extra time / money getting there, or are you nearly just as well to fly? You guys who got the train might even know that? Not even moneywise, but were you glad you went overland?? Thanks a mill xxx
