Newbie to the forum and looking to ask some questions about lodging in China. Going to be going to Beijing in the summer, not necessarily for the Olympics but just to travel. Looking for decent accommodations for a cheap price - don't want to get ripped off by hotels around that time. Friend recommended beijingrents.com for decent deals. Checked out the website and it didn't seem too bad
Let me know if anyone else is looking for accommodations also in BJ
Hows it goin?
Im headin off to China via Russia and Mongolia this year myself and im the same as yourself, I really dont wanna get lumbered with bog hotel bills otherwise im homeward bound and skint! So ive done a bit of research and found an awesome website hotelworld.com. Check it out, it gives really amazing prices for hostels and hotels, might help to give you a clue about how much youll need as well.
So is it juts beijing your goin to or are you planning on touring round much?
Hey BofA, a friend of mine runs this website www.findbeijing.com. It focuses on discount housing in Beijing, Olympics and otherwise. Most of the listings are in large Chinese hotels and hostels offering discount rates and expats looking to rent out their apartments during the Olympics. The site also provides a Western operated concierge service, tours, discounted mobile phones, drivers and a bunch of other ammenities.
Beijing is pretty expensive for lodging. I listed a couple of hostels on the wiki guide and all of them have dorms starting around 50 RMB to 60 RMB. The best way to do it is go for a cheap dorm in beijing and then spend more in a cheaper city were you can get more bang for your buck. Also all the guesthouses have good private rooms to.
