There are hardly any Spain supporters here, seems im fighting a lone battle:)

Germany is also dear to me as my wife had stayed there for 4 years and even i like the country and her people, having said that i still support Spain as i feel they are on a roll right now and ideally poised to win the title

You should have been at the bar I was at tonight if you didn't want to feel alone. The bar was packed with Polish people who were all cheering for Spain. I don't know if they were cheering for Spain so much (for I can't think of a good reason why Polish folks would like the Spanish team) as they were cheering against Germany (there are a LOT of reasons why I could imagine Polish people not liking Germany).

Anyway, I don't know much about football, but it looked to me like the score should have been somewhere closer to 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0. Spain had SO many chances that just didn't bounce there way. Germany looked limp. Spain rightfully won that game, and deserve the trophy.

So, anybody want to meet up for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa? More importantly, does anybody in on the board from South Africa want to billet a bunch of people they've never met for a couple weeks in 2010?

ok, spain was winning the final game, but for me is was most important that we could
see a good final match...
(and I think we got something for our money)
and to be second is also not sooooooooooooooo bad,
and wow, what a match it was......................

I'm happy that me and my friends had a good party after the game.

we where more or less 60 people from 9-12 different countries watching the final,
and after the game we all celebrated together.:):):):):):)

don't forget,it took Spain 44 years to win the "POTT" again
and they won ONLY 1:0....

A great game that indeed could easily have been 3 or 4 against 0. There was only about 5 minutes the Germans looked threatening, all started off by a mistake from Puyol. Other than that, Spain was playing some fantastic football. Having won all their games as the clear deserving winners it was a refreshing thing to see. I can't remember a tournament in the past two decades where one team were so deserving of the championship the entire length of the tournament!! The supporters were really good too this tournament and there were great games all along the way.

Football the way it was intended!

I admit I've paid no attention to games at all, except to read everyone's posts in this thread. I was rooting for Germany, in support of Marlis, when they played Turkey, though did not watch the match. From what I have heard, not many people got to watch much of the match due to "technical broadcasting difficulties". We did watch the final yesterday and I tried very hard to stick with Germany, but found myself waffling and secretly hoping Marlis wouldn't find out.

Marlis, I really did try!!!! I finally gave up fighting it in the last 3 minutes of play. I wanted Spain to win. But, as you have said - coming in 2nd is also not sooooooooooo bad. ;)
