Hi all I am travelling to Sydney in OZ on my own although I will be meeting up with my Uncle and his wife and will stay with them while I am there. Anyway on my way to Sydney I am stopping off in Hong Kong for a day and i am arriving there at night time then I will be doing a tour of the city by bus the next day for 8 hours. I arrive back at the hotel at 4pm my flight is not going out until 11pm that night any advice on where is the safest part of the city where I should go and what is safe to eat. Also what is the currency of Hong Kong I know its a stupid question but i had to ask it.
has anyone stayed in the Metropole Hotel in Kowloon as I will be staying there I also notice that Kowloon is a little futher away from Hong Kong city and is on the mainland is it easy to travel there by bus as the travel agency has given me bus passes. Also another thing i was on the official HK tourism board website does every person going through Hong Kong airport have to fill out those health forms?
Kowloon is best if you're only in town a short time. There are buses, but the quickest way is the new express train which will drop you in Kowloon. There are usually courtesy buses to most of the major hotels.
Currency is the Hong Kong Dollar, so you'll have to change some when you get there or take some with you if you intend to use cash.
It depends where you stay. If you stay around the Central downtown, go to Lan Kwai Fong or SOHO for a drink or snacks. If you stay around Tsim Sha Tsui, go to Knutsford Terrace.
the hotel im staying is on Waterloo Road is that a safe area? I'll be in town for 24 hours not long really its just an overnight stay to break up the journey to OZ. Because im travelling alone im a little cautious im probably like most solo travellers.
Waterloo Road is a very safe area. Are you staying in the YMCA there/
im staying in the Metropole Hotel there its a 3 star hotel do you know what that hotel is like?
It is a nice budget hotel.
