Travel Forums System Talk Uploading photos seems to be an issue.

I am a new member and tried to upload several images from my January trip to Big Bend. However it is required to fill in the 'Location' field, but even though Big Bend National Park is one of the largest parks in the USA it does not recognize Big Bend or Big Bend, TX or Big Bend Texas or West Texas or just Texas.

So I can not upload these.

Any suggestions?

where do you see the "location" field? i was checking it myself but I don't know where you have to fill in your location. i only see a scroll down menu for "country"...

To be clear on one thing, after you've uploaded the images they are already in the system and available on the website. They will just be tagged as incomplete uploads so not show up in your gallery. Just wanted to make this clear to save hassle of re-uploading photos that are already there.

The problem is that although the location field contains some 2 million or so locations, it does not do parks/lakes/states very well. Try a town/city near or in the park and you'll most likely be successful (Terlingua for example does exist). Another option is to set a location for these photos the 'old fashioned way', which is by just choosing a country and then narrowing it down through the photo mapping feature. This allows you to create your own 'custom locations', by zooming in and selecting a spot manually on the map. That location will be remembered so it's relatively easy to tag the others the same way.

If you don't mind them not showing at all on the map or profile, you can untick the box 'Tick this if you want these photos to show in your photo gallery.'. Then, for some reason that isn't quite understood by me, you don't have to set a location but of course the photos don't actually show in your profile either.... Another way around it is to upload them through the regular singular upload, but that can be a major pain if you are doing a lot of photos and you'll still have to enter a country, which you could have done through the bulk upload.

Clearly there needs to be a better way of doing this though!

Thanks guys. I used Marfa, USA and Terlingua for now.

wouterrr: it's an option when using the 'Bulk Upload' feature, still in Beta
