Just wondering if anyone has visited this place? A friend of mine said it's worth a visit but couldn't advise me on where to stay... having some issues finding cheap accommodation there! Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks :) xx

Hel is a small slice of land which you can visit on a half day's tour from Gdynia. There's really no scope in trying to find accomodation there unless you are mad about water sports. In my opinion, it's better to find accomodation in Gdynia from where numerous mini-buses leave for Hel frequently. Accomodation in Gdynia is cheap and spread all over the place and you will surely find something to your liking.

I was in Hel(l) ;) few years ago and there wasn't much to do. It's better to see Sopot (between Gdansk & Gdynia), there is the longest wooden pier in Europe. But if You really want see Hel you can get there by ferry from Gdansk.

Yes, it's better to stay in Gdynia, Gdansk or Sopot and you can take a cruise from there to Hel (better then a longer trip by train or bus), very nice trip. But in Hel you get only some fish bars, beach and a small seal zoo, the attraction is that the village in the far end of a narrow peninsula which separate the Bay of Gdansk to open Baltic, find it at google map.
You can also find an accomodation in one of turistic ressorts on Hel's peninsula.

In that case your next trip should be to Wet Wang.

Actually this could be another thread - stupidest town names you have visited.
