This is a really great section to have. (sorry couldn't think what word was best) I like how the photos, and info are clear and it's fairly easy to navigate. It is certainly a great additions to a travel website.

Re social bookings, if you've already booked your accommodation direct with the hostel say, is there any way of seeing if other members might be staying at the same time as you are?

And if a hostel you know of is not listed, how do get it added on?
Thanks.

This feature will only work for bookings made through Travellerspoint. Largely for privacy reasons - we don't actually reveal the details of other people staying there until a booking has been made either. I'd have to think of a way of enabling this somehow for people who haven't made their booking through the site though, because it would of course be nice to make that possible!

Not quite possible yet, but we do plan to add this at some point soon.

Thanks Peter, I thought that may have been the case. I pre-booked my accommodation quite some time ago for my next trip in Sept/Oct.

As a suggestion, could this be integrated with the existing Travel Map/Trips part so people can put future plans along with hostels? Of course having it as an opt-in thing.

So you think make it public if the user chooses basically? Integration with the trip map would be very nice - totally agreed. Just a matter of when

Just noticed the addition of the "Latest Property Reviews" section to member profiles (in fact, I think I reloaded the profile page right when it was being uploaded, as I got a server error there for a second *g*). Cool addition, but... "Latest Property Reviews" doesn't seem to be very accurate. I know absolutely certain that I created at least one more recent review than the three which are there now (namely HI Bangkok Centre Sumhumvit 25), and thinking about it, I think there'd even a 50% chance that the three reviews which are listed were the very first three I ever created. (In which case: oi, you need to add a DESC!) :)

Oh, and another minor bug: the header is showing even when there's no reviews by that member at all...

edit: Woo, quick fixes there. Thanks. :)

Woops; should both be fixed now

On a side note, your profile seems to be slower than most (about 40 seconds just now for me, which is more than 10 times what it took to load my own). Now what have you done?! There's something on some of these profile pages sucking up some major loading time!

Yeah, I was noticing that myself. I want to bet it's my big trips with dozens of destinations causing this, causing the loop to determine which countries were visited in order to take way too much time. If that's the case, see if you can split that in two (e.g. first retrieve only the last three trips, and then relate to the locations table), or maybe even cache the countries-list per trip, to be updated only when the trip is edited. (That should really help in quite a few places where that list of countries can be shown; my frontpage where the same trips are shown is always really slow, too.)
(Also compare Gelli's profile, since he has similarly huge amounts of destinations in some of his trips.)

The only other cause which I can imagine would be my latest blog entry being a really old one, needing a long search back through the blogentries table to get to - but that really shouldn't be the case unless there's an index missing (or not being used for some reason)...

Btw, would be good to add the city (and country?) to the property reviews on member profiles, since when that isn't obvious from the name (for example with your most recent review of "Avalon House"), there's absolutely no way for someone unfamiliar with the property in question to tell. Just a change to the first line from "Hostel reviewed:" to "Dublin hostel reviewed:" (or something similar) should suffice...
