shorts - take
decent pair flip flops - take
multi port plug - take

to be honest, you're fine as long as you have your documents, a good pair of havaiana flip flops and some crappy clothes. Everything is super cheap out there, they even have a boots pharmacy in Bangkok and really good thai pharmacies all over the place. Clothes for beach-ing etc, again, readily available and cheap. Backpacking Thailand is really easy and fun, you shouldn't have any problems, the Thai people are the most generous and caring people. You also, absolutely MUST go to at leats one full moon party in Koh Phangnan, but be careful!
Have a safe trip
